Below you will find the Rival Crafts range of high quality, non-toxic colour Pigments.

Natural Pigments

The Natural range of colours consist of earth pigments which are Non-Toxic and suitable for colouring or tinting the following:

Limewash - Natural paints (e.g Clay paints and Chalk paints) - Plasters - Cements - Grouts Varnishes - Waxes - Stains - Glazes - Artist paints and pastels - Handmade paper

Natural pigments tend to be semi transparent so will give a softer tint than oxides when used in a white base such as lime or white paint. For brighter colours or stronger tinting oxides, why not take a look at our Synthetic pigments.

All of the Natural pigments are suitable for use with lime. Please note: not all commercially available pigments are suitable for limewash. The level of alkalinity in lime can cause the colours of some pigments to fade prematurely.

Synthetic Pigments

The Synthetic range of colours consist of mineral based pigments which are Non-Toxic and suitable for colouring or tinting a wide range of media including:

Natural paints (e.g clay paints and chalk paints) - Varnishes - Waxes - Stains - Glazes - Artist paints and pastels - Handmade paper

Synthetic pigments are pigments which have been chemically manufactured, often to create the bright colours unobtainable from natural earth pigments. All of the Synthetic Pigments are manufactured on mineral bases and are Non-Toxic.

Please Note: Due to the alkalinity of Lime, certain pigments will fade rapidly when used with lime based binders. The synthetic pigments listed below are NOT suitable for use with lime. UV Stability

The following pigments are NOT fully UV stable making them unsuitable for applications exposed to bright sunlight:
